Two-factor authentication (2FA)

Anita Wilknitz Updated by Anita Wilknitz

To further increase the security of your accounts and personal data, we recommend using two-factor authentication (2FA).

With 2FA, we add an additional layer of protection that goes beyond the traditional password.

What is 2FA?

2FA is a security measure that combines two different methods to confirm your identity.

In addition to your password, you need a second factor, such as a code sent to your cell phone.

Why 2FA?

Using 2FA offers you several advantages:

  • Increased security: even if your password is compromised, the additional authentication step prevents unauthorized access to your account.
  • Fraud protection: 2FA helps to detect and prevent fraudulent activity.

How does 2FA work?

  1. Login: Log in as usual with your username and password.
  2. Additional step: Enter the unique code that is sent to your cell phone.
  3. Access: After entering the code, you will be granted access to your account.

What do you need to do?

There are two ways to activate 2FA: authentication via text message or authentication via an authenticator app.

The following steps are required for both methods:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Make sure that the correct mobile phone number is stored for all users. Please enter the phone number in the so-called canonical format (example +491711111111).
  3. You can activate 2FA for each user in the user administration.

  1. You can log out immediately after switching over. It takes approx. 5-10 minutes until the 2FA is active on our systems and, if you log out again, you can only log in using 2FA.

  1. Please note that, depending on the integration, it is generally not possible to activate 2FA for service users.
If you have any questions or require support when setting up 2FA, our customer service team will be happy to help.

SSO authentication

Depending on the edition you have booked, we also support the option of authentication via your authentication service using the SAML protocol. SAML enables single sign-on (SSO) technology.
